The context window is not “everything on disk”—it is the serialized bundle the model sees this turn: system instructions, tool definitions, retrieved files, prior turns (possibly compressed), and your latest message. Misunderstanding this leads to false confidence (“it read the repo”) and token waste (dumping logs nobody will parse).
