Reported imperatives

In Thai, imperative-like constructions — demands, requests, orders, suggestions to do something — in direct speech use volition verbs, modal words, and imperative forms. When such utterances are reported in indirect speech, sentence structure changes: direct urging is replaced by a dependent subordinate construction syntactically governed by a verb of urging.
