Thai orthography (การสะกดคำ) is built on a syllable model: each word is written as a sequence of syllables, and each syllable consists of an initial consonant, vowel, tone mark (when needed), and final consonant (when needed). Spelling a Thai word is not simply “write what you hear” — it combines phonetic, historical, and normative rules.
