The noun category in Thai
Nouns (คำเอนาม, kham enām) are central in Thai: they name objects, people, animals, events, and abstract ideas. Unlike Russian, French, or German, Thai does not inflect nouns for gender, number, or case. The word form stays the same; grammatical relations are shown by word order, particles, and context. Noun morphology is simpler, but vocabulary and syntax carry more of the load.
