Expressing the past

Thai has no grammatical tense via verb inflection or conjugated forms as in Indo-European languages. Past meaning is conveyed through lexico-grammatical means — time markers, context, and auxiliary words. What matters is not verb form but how the utterance expresses completion or pastness.
