Gas, Fees, and Network Economics

Gas is Ethereum’s internal resource meter. It charges for computation and for storage access, forcing transactions to specify a maximum resource usage. The sender specifies a gas limit and pays fees based on gas used. Gas prevents infinite execution and aligns costs with the shared nature of decentralized computation.
