The Concept of Immutability

Immutability in blockchains means that once data is appended and sufficiently finalized by consensus, rewriting history becomes computationally or economically impractical. In many systems, immutability is probabilistic: before finality conditions are met, reorganizations (reorgs) can replace recent history.
