Why are indexes needed?
Imagine a 1000 page book. If you need to find the “Transactions” chapter, you don’t scroll through everything (this is a Full Table Scan). You open the table of contents, find the page, and jump straight to the right place. An index in a database is the same “table of contents” for data.
