HashiCorp Vault: secrets as a service
Vault stores and brokers secrets (passwords, certs, API keys) with policies, audit logs, and lease/TTL semantics. Apps authenticate via auth methods (Kubernetes, JWT, LDAP) and receive tokens scoped by policy. Prefer dynamic secrets (short-lived DB creds) over long-lived static strings in ConfigMaps.
