Event-driven architecture decouples services: instead of direct HTTP calls, services publish events to a message broker. Other services subscribe and react asynchronously. This enables temporal decoupling, resilience to downstream failures, and natural audit trails. Spring Boot integrates with Apache Kafka via Spring Kafka and with RabbitMQ via Spring AMQP.
