Copying and Moving Files (cp, mv)

cp duplicates files or directory trees; mv moves or renames in one step. Both default to overwriting targets without a GUI confirmation — use -i for interactive prompts on GNU coreutils. Understanding trailing slashes matters: cp -r src dest copies the folder named src into dest, while nuances of whether dest exists change the final path.
