Searching for Files (find, locate)

find walks the directory tree at search time — powerful, sometimes expensive on huge disks. locate queries a prebuilt database for instant name lookups but may miss files created minutes ago until the database refreshes. Choose find when you need filters (type, size, mtime); choose locate for quick name guesses on stable systems.
