An irrational equation is one where the unknown appears under a radical sign (or under a fractional power with odd denominator in the exponent — see the previous lesson). A common move — isolate a radical and raise both sides to a suitable power to remove it.
Raising to an even power may introduce extraneous roots — filter by checking in the original equation and the domain (ODZ)
