Trigonometric functions of a real argument
In Grade 10 sinx, cosx, tanx, cotx are treated as functions of a real argument x (in radians unless stated otherwise): each x is assigned a value from the unit circle — the endpoint of an arc of length ∣x∣ from (1;0) (with sign for rotation direction).
Then sinx and cosx are the y- and x-coordinates of that point; tanx and cotx are ratios of the coordinates (where defined).
The argument x is a number on the circle (radians), not only an acute angle in a triangle
