Area and cm²
Area is the amount of surface a shape covers on a plane. We measure it in square centimeters (cm²). 1 cm² is the area of a square with sides 1 cm long. To find the area of a rectangle, multiply length by width (use the same units). For example, a room 6 m long and 4 m wide has area 6 × 4 = 24 m².
Area is the space inside a shape
Units: cm², dm², m²
Rectangle area = length × width
Example: sides 3 cm and 5 cm → 3 × 5 = 15 cm²
