Thousand. Units class and thousands class

One thousand is a new counting unit: 10001000. Ten hundreds make one thousand: 10 hundreds = 1000. To read and write larger numbers easily, digits are grouped into periods of three places from right to left. The rightmost three places form the ones period (ones, tens, hundreds). The next three to the left form the thousands period (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands). When you read the number aloud, you often pause between periods. For example, 24,056 is read: in the thousands period we have 24 — “twenty-four thousand”; in the ones period we have 056 — “fifty-six.” Together: “twenty-four thousand, fifty-six.”
10 hundreds = 10001000 (one thousand)
The three places on the right are the ones period
The next three are the thousands period
Number = (thousands part) × 1000 + (part from 0 to 999)
Let's look at 24,056
