Equations. Finding the unknown

In Grade 3, in the Addition and subtraction unit, the lesson Solving equations had you find the unknown in x+a=bx+a=b, ax=ba-x=b, xa=bx-a=b using rules for addends, the minuend, and the subtrahend. In Grade 4, after work with multi-digit numbers, those ideas stay the same but the numbers are larger, and you also see equations where the unknown is tied to multiplication and division: an unknown factor or dividend is found with the inverse operation (divide by the known factor, or multiply the quotient by the divisor). Always check the answer by substituting into the original equation.
Addition and subtraction: same rules as Grade 3 — with bigger numbers
xk=px\cdot k=px=p÷kx=p\div k (when it divides evenly)
x÷k=qx\div k=qx=qkx=q\cdot k
Check: substitute the found xx into the left side
