Addition and subtraction in decimal form follow the same rules as for whole numbers — if you stack the places in columns (the decimal points should line up).
If the addends have different numbers of digits after the separator, you may append zeros on the right in the fractional part only for neatness — the value does not change.
Carrying when adding and borrowing a ten when subtraction work between neighboring places, including when the separator “steps” from the fractional part to the whole part or the other way around.
Decimal point alignment in the column is essential
Compute place by place from right to left
Borrowing can cross from whole to fraction or back
Line up the places
