To multiply a decimal by a whole number, it is convenient to work in two steps.
Step 1. Multiply the numbers as if they were integers, ignoring the decimal point for a moment.
Step 2. In the product, place the point so that there are as many digits to the right as in the fractional part of the original decimal.
For example:
2.35×4
235×4=940; 2.35 had 2 digits after the point, so the result is 9.40 (or 9.4).

The number of digits after the point in the answer comes from the decimal factor
Trailing zeros on the right may appear in the form but do not change the value (9.40 = 9.4)
