Division by decimal

To divide by a decimal, it is convenient to make the divisor a whole number. Rule: shift the point in the dividend and divisor by the same number of places to the right until the divisor becomes a whole number. The value of the quotient does not change. Example: 8.4÷0.48.4\div 0.4. Shift the point one place: 84÷4=2184\div 4=21. So 8.4÷0.4=218.4\div 0.4=21.
Turn the divisor into a whole number
Shift the point in both numbers by the same number of places
Then divide in the usual way
