Application of the distributive property of multiplication

Distributive property of multiplication over addition: (a+b)c=ac+bc(a+b)\cdot c = a\cdot c + b\cdot c. If cc is a fraction, multiply each term inside the parentheses by that fraction, then add the fractions (usually with a common denominator first).
First expand: multiply each term by the factor
Adding fractions — common denominator, then numerators
Reduce the answer when possible
Explained: fraction × sum
