Adding numbers using a coordinate line

To add signed numbers on a number line, start at the first addend and move by the second: - if the second is positive, move to the right by its absolute value; - if the second is negative, move to the left by its absolute value. This matches the idea a+b=a+(signed step)a+b=a+\text{(signed step)}.
