Multiplication and division of powers

When the bases are the same, you can combine exponents: aman=am+na^m\cdot a^n=a^{m+n}, am:an=amna^m:a^n=a^{m-n} (for a0a\neq0). The base stays the same; only the exponent changes.
When multiplying powers, add the exponents
When dividing powers, subtract the exponents
These rules apply only when the base is the same
