Adding and subtracting algebraic fractions

Addition and subtraction of algebraic fractions are done via a common denominator. Algorithm: find the LCD, rewrite each fraction with that denominator, combine numerators, simplify.
Common denominator first, then work in the numerator
After adding or subtracting, always simplify the result
Keep track of the domain of admissible values
Add or subtract algebraic fractions.

1x+2x\frac{1}{x}+\frac{2}{x}
=3x, x≠0=\frac{3}{x},\ x\neq0
1x+2x=1+2x\frac{1}{x}+\frac{2}{x}=\frac{1+2}{x}=3x=\frac{3}{x}
