Definition
The quadratic function in the simplest form is y=ax2, where x is the independent variable and a is a nonzero parameter (a=0; otherwise y=0 is constant, with no "bowl" of a parabola).
The graph is the set of points (x,y) in the plane. For y=ax2 it is a parabola with vertex at the origin.
