Definition and difference from a parabola
The power function f(x)=x3 sends each x to "x cubed". It is often written simply as y=x3.
Unlike a quadratic, the graph is not symmetric about a vertical line. Instead there is central symmetry: rotate the plane by 180∘ about (0;0) and the curve maps to itself.
