ERC-721 defines a standard for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Ethereum. “Non-fungible” means tokens are unique: each token represents a distinct collectible or asset. ERC-721 assigns an owner to each token ID and defines transfer and approval mechanisms. Metadata is typically provided via a tokenURI function pointing to off-chain JSON.
