In Thai, the instrument or tool used to perform an action is expressed through special prepositions and constructions. The main instrument preposition is ด้วย (dûai); depending on context and register, โดยใช้ and โดยการใช้ are also used, and sometimes verbal or zero-marked patterns appear.
