Verbal sentences occupy a central place in the syntactic system of Thai. They are characterized by lack of inflection, a strict word order, and obligatory explicitness of the verbal component. Unlike nominal sentences, where the predicate is a noun, adjective, or other nominal element, verbal sentences have a verbal predicate and most often describe actions, processes, or states.
